urinary tract infection

Some women rarely get them, while others get them regularly: urinary tract infections. A urinary tract infection is caused by bacteria that have entered the urinary tract. There, they cause an unpleasant and painful infection. Many women experience recurrent urinary tract infections. These are usually triggered by the body's own bacteria, most commonly E. coli, a bacterium that normally occurs in the intestine. The risk of infection is higher in women than in men because the female urethra is shorter. Symptoms include pain and burning when urinating, often blood in the urine, and the affected person suffers from a general feeling of illness. What can you do? A clean and healthy intimate area reduces the risk of urinary tract infections. Bacteria find it harder to multiply in a healthy and strong vaginal environment. When using the toilet, you should always wipe from front to back with toilet paper. Women in particular often suffer from the symptoms of uncomplicated cystitis after going to the swimming pool or spending a day at the beach. Hypothermia should be avoided after swimming. Wet swimwear should therefore be changed immediately after swimming. If the doctor diagnoses an uncomplicated bladder infection, the patient can discuss with them whether the infection needs to be treated with antibiotics or whether there are any alternatives. At our pharmacy, we offer a wide range of alternatives for uncomplicated urinary tract infections. Emergency dispensing (late in the evening or on weekends) is also possible after a thorough consultation with the pharmacist. Come by and let our expert staff advise you.
